The nostalgic air of peace and unity that prevailed amongst Nigerians in its past era which its citizens presently pray for a re-enactment in their daily lives was brought to the grounds in Jos, Plateau State in the week spanning 24th to 30th April 2023 as Nigerians gathered from various parts of the glob to grace the traditional and white wedding ceremonies of Miss Domini Esther Yakubu and Ujah Lawrence Ujah, son of Professor Innocent A O Ujah, mni, OON, Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo, (FUHSO), Benue State, North Central Nigeria.

The traditional marriage rites which took place Thursday 27th April saw the two great cultures of Idoma and Jukun nationalities, both of which originate from the Octopal eastwhile Kwararafa kingdom embracing each other in grand and joyful stepbacks in the sand of time. Dowries were enthusiastically negotiated, paid for and extravagantly beautiful bride handed over for the bridge-across-the-benue building partnership forever and the Church wedding event of 30th April.

The solemnization of Holy Matrimony took place at St.Gabriel’s Catholic Chaplaincy 551, NAF Station, Old Airport Road, Jos at a well attended Mass officiated by a team of eight preasts led by Rev Fr (FLT LT) PE AGBA. The new couple, during the homily and exhautations, were adviced to errect the foundation of their matrimonial institution on the concrete attitude of prayer in seeking for solutions to most challenges they are expected to face. The sizable St. Gabriel’s Carbolic Chaplaincy 551, NAF Station Church  was filled to capacity by visitors who came to witness the historical event.

          A pleasant surprise however greeted the majority of those who graced the Solemnization Mass when they moved to one the biggest Event Centers in Jos, the Emaralds, known for its big size and comfort to be initially informed that all seats had long been taken. A combination of the dexterity the management of the Event Center displayed and the resolute calmness which the guests maintained themselves  saved any unpleasant turn of events as enough seats were adequately made available.

Consequently Jos went agog with Cultural drumbeats and expertly moved dance-steps from Idoma and Jukun nations to the memory refurbishing nods of Beroms and other peoples of multiple cultural extractions spread across the Plateau highlands, Nasarawa State, both shorelines of the Benue river and unto the frings of South Eastern Nigeria and the river Niger confluence. They celebrated their ancestral commonality under the eastwhile Quararafa dynasty before the onset of the self determination marchs occasioned by the hegemony wars   centuries ago that dispersed them from the land.

The Chairman of the Reception ceremony and Deputy Governor of Nasarawa State, Dr Emmanuel Agbadu Akabe who humbly stood in for the announced personality in view of his unavoidable absence in his speech drew the couples’ attentions to the sterlin qualities of their parents, Rtd. Compt Alfred Yakubu, his wife Mrs Henriatta Yakubu, Professor Innocent A O Ujah mni, OON and his wife Mrs Francisca Oyibo Ujah. He recounted his personal knowledge of their parents and the conclusion arising from that knowledge is that success in all ramifications of life can only result from a combination of real hard work and grit-teethedly maintained personal integrity. He adviced them to use their own parents and God as their role models in their journey together through life.

Among the jampacked guests at the Reception Event were Nigerians resident within and outside the country with Scholars and technocrats of the Ivory Tovers worldwide making the majority. Political icons, investors, Civil Service career moguls and achievers in various sectors of the economy in attendance were uneconomicall with their praises for the legacy lives of the parents of the new couple when they spoke to Wind Sound Africa, insisting that it was this that made the day the resounding success it turned to be. All congratulatory messages and well wishes were however directed at the couple in their personal capacity in view of the fact that they had won the admirations of their peer groups and watchers as evidenced by their massive turn-out to be with them on their Wedding Day.
